Yahoo hires Lockerz CEO Kathy Savitt as Chief Marketing Officer

Savitt’s hiring marks the major human resource acquisition at Sunnyvale since Marissa Mayer took over as CEO
Yahoo has hired Lockerz founder and CEO Kathy Savitt as the company’s Chief Marketing Officer. The decision was made public on Monday, August 27.
The former CEO of the social commerce website will certainly prove worthy with her experience in online advertisements and social media networking, two aggravating problems that Yahoo is facing at the moment.
The beleaguering internet-based company had been going through tough times since 2010. However, the recent Scott Thompson scandal had put the company in the spotlight. The already falling share prices plummeted after Thompson firing. Ross Levinsohn took over the reins temporarily in May.
Google’s senior executive Marissa Mayer was appointed the CEO at Yahoo in July after a thoughtful process though Levinsohn was also a strong contender for the position on permanent basis. Levinsohn, afterwards, resigned from the company in August.
Savitt’s hiring is the first high profile appointment at Yahoo after Mayer took over the top job. Her expertise in the social networking and online advertisement will certainly prove a viable asset to Yahoo.
“I believe passionately in Yahoo’s ability to inspire and delight users, partners and advertisers around the world and am excited to join Marissa in defining Yahoo’s next chapter,” Savitt said in a statement late Monday.
She had worked as CMO also at American Eagle Outfitters and as the vice president of strategic communications, content and initiatives at Amazon, the largest retailers in the world. Her experience working in those capacities will certainly come handy at Yahoo.
Yahoo has been seeing tough time in online advertisements where the company’s profits are decreasing by the day. Mayer was an intelligent hire at the company for the solution of the problems. Mayer has projects like Google Maps under her belt, and has also played a vital part in the creation of Google Wallet.

Tell someone at Yahoo to get on that grand but old and dying Site Builder. Fire that lazy staff and engineers who have a builder that is still not compatable with E-7 and Indians who cannot write or commuicate by written word.
Big opportnity to bring many folks back and new folks to Yahoo. Site Builders are the thing but the good old WSIWYG base Yahoo had needs to be resurrected.
