Erika Seltenreich-Hodgson and Chase Kalisz won gold medals of the 200m Individual Medley (IM) in Women and Men’s category at the 2012 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships.
Seltenreich Hodgson remained dominant over her challengers throughout the discipline and made her way to the finishing wall for gold medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 12.93 seconds.
Her title claiming effort remained 1.11 seconds faster from Chihiro Igarashi, who stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 14.04 seconds.
Igarashi was chased by Celina Li, who remained only 0.12 seconds slower and proved her eligibility for bronze medal of the event by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 14.16 seconds.
Li was followed by Kaitlyn Jones, who stayed 0.15 seconds behind and settled on the finishing wall as fourth fastest swimmer by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 14.31 seconds.
Subsequently, Jones was traced by Kotuku Ngawati, who stayed just one stroke apart and ended up her swim in fifth best place by touching the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 14.64 seconds.
Following that, the audience witnessed gruelling efforts of Kalisz in the Men’s equivalent event. Kalisz continued his scintillating form from the start and transpired on the finishing blockade for gold medal by touching the wall with a wonderful timing
of 1 minute and 59.51 seconds.
With his astonishing efforts, he remained a body length faster from his following swimmer, Daiya Seto of Japan, who made his way to the victory stand for silver medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 00.33 seconds.
Seto was followed by his teammate, Keita Sunama, who stayed 0.28 seconds slower from overpowering him and finished his race in third best place by producing a time of 2 minutes and 00.61 seconds.
Sunama was trailed by Ty Stewart, who stayed 0.84 seconds slower and emerged on the finishing blockade for fourth position by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 01.45 seconds.
In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades after the session.
