Kell Brook confident of setting up a clash with Amir Khan
Wednesday, August 29th, 2012 3:08:47 by Imran Shaukat KhanKell Brook, who presently holds the WBA version of the inter-continental title, is confident of setting up a mega-fight with his fellow countryman Amir Khan, a former WBA and IBF light welterweight champion.
Khan, who is more commonly known as King Khan, lost his titles to Danny Garcia on July 14. The Brit entered the ring as a red-hot favorite but Garcia stunned everyone by stopping him in the fourth round.
Khan’s defeat brought him a lot of criticism and perhaps this is a reason why Brook thinks Khan will not refuse him. The 26-year-old took a dig at Khan by saying he needs to ‘rebuild his career’ and should avail the opportunity.
“I think with me and Amir Khan down the line it can happen. I think all the fans want the fight to happen, I want the fight, it’s down to him. I think he might need to rebuild a bit on his career after getting knocked out by Garcia, but time will tell,” said Brook.
The Bolton man is considered as one of the best British fighters. However, the undefeated prospect, Brook, who holds a record of winning all of his 28 professional fights, with 18 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout, believes it will his night, if Khan ever meets him in the ring.
“I’ve said for many years now that when me and him do meet I think accuracy beats speed all day, and I think I’ve got Amir Khan’s number. So when we do meet I’d definitely be in there to take him out.”
Brook recently defeated American rising star Carson Jones and he is now set to face Argentinean Hector Saldvia in October.
Khan on the other hand has not announced his return to the ring as of yet. So let’s see if Khan really considers fighting Kell Brook.
