Kareena Kapoor: ‘Heroine’ can’t be a blockbuster because we don’t have Salman Khan
Thursday, August 30th, 2012 9:19:06 by Imran Shaukat KhanThe ultimate B’town diva Kareena Kapoor is awaiting the release of her much-anticipated upcoming film ‘Heroine’, which has been directed by Madhur Bhandarkar. However, she doesn’t think her film will set any records at the box office.
The 31-year-old recently had an interview with TOI, in which she insisted Indian society is dominated by males and therefore she don’t think her film will cross 100 or 200 crore mark.
While speaking on her inclusion, the actress sarcastically mentioned Salman Khan’s name, whose latest film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ has broken many box office records.
Kareena told TOI, “I really don’t think so as we don’t have Salman Khan in our film. If the first day we do a decent business, it will be big achievement for me as a commercial Hindi movie actress who held the film on her shoulders without a hero. So if we sail through decently it is a big thing because in India it is all about the males. Madhur has touched upon this aspect in the movie as well that that actresses are not showpieces.”
Kareena further stated that she is not even looking towards any national award for her film.
She said, “I don’t want the national award… I seriously don’t need any such thing. I would only want the audience to go and watch the film once and that will be more than enough for me. Once everybody should see the movie and say it is a good watch.”
‘Heroine’ is scheduled to hit the cinemas on September 21 and along with Kareena Kapoor the film will also feature the likes of Arjun Rampal, Randeep Hooda and Shahana Goswami.
The movie doesn’t have a complex storyline, as it revolves around the life of a once successful film actress (Mahi Arora) whose career is on the decline.
Well, all said and done, let’s see how much money ‘Heroine’ generates at the box office.
