Sergey Punko and Oxana Savchenko snare gold medals – 2012 Paralympic Games

Sergey Punko and Oxana Savchenko snared gold medal of the 400m freestyle in Men and Women’s corner in S12 category at the 2012 London Paralympic Games.

Punko continued his commendable pace from the start and finished the eight-lap freestyle event in a phenomenal timing of 4 minutes and 10.26 seconds.

The champion was traced by Enrique Floriano, who stayed nearly 4.50 seconds slower from his former finisher and tapped the wall for second position by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 14.77 seconds.

Floriano was chased by Sergii Klippert, who remained nearly 2.50 seconds slower and clinched bronze medal of the race by touching the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 17.12 seconds.

Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Omar Font, who stayed almost four seconds slower from claiming third position of the event and clocked a timing of 4 minutes and 21.01 seconds.

Font was trailed by Tucker Dupree, who stayed 3.50 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end as fifth fastest swimmer by producing a time of 4 minutes and 24.51 seconds.

Afterwards, Savchenko obtain the title of equivalent event in Women’s corner. Savchenko gained a half body length lead over her following swimmer and hit the wall for gold medal with a timing of 4 minutes and 37.89 seconds.

The gold medallist was trailed by Hannah Russell, who stayed 0.71 seconds slower and hit the finishing wall for second position by producing a time of 4 minutes and 38.60 seconds.

The silver medallist was followed by Deborah Font, who remained 1.15 seconds behind and stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 39.75 seconds.

Font stayed nearly one and a half body length ahead of Anna Efimenko, who failed to reach the podium and secured fourth position of the race by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 51.29 seconds.

Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize ceremony of the event.
