Natalie du Toit and Benoit Huot won gold medal of the Women’s 100m butterfly and Men’s 200m Individual medley (IM) in S9 and SM10 category respectively at the 2012 London Paralympic Games.
Du Toit remained considerably ahead of her strongest challenger and surfaced on the finishing wall for gold medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 09.30 seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Sarai Gascon, who was 0.49 seconds slower and hit the wall for silver medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 09.79 seconds.
She was trailed by Elizabeth Stone, who stayed 0.31 seconds behind and hit the wall for third position by reporting a time of 1 minute and 10.10 seconds.
Fourth best spot of the race was secured by Ellie Cole, who remained 0.30 seconds apart and emerged on the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 10.40 seconds.
Cole was traced by Stephanie Millward, who stayed one and a half body length away from her foregoing finisher and settled on the finishing wall as fifth best finisher by clocking a time of 1 minute and 12.01 seconds.
With his laudable efforts, he remained untouchable from the start and reached the finishing blockade for gold medal in a new Paralympic record time of 2 minutes and 10.01 seconds.
Afterwards, Huot won gold medal of the 200m IM. The champion was traced by Andre Brasil, who stayed 2.35 seconds behind and secured silver medal of the race by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 12.36 seconds.
Third best spot of the race was obtained by Rick Pendleton, who remained 2.41 seconds slower from overwhelming his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 14.77 seconds.
Pendleton was traced by Kevin Paul, who stayed just half a body length behind and failed to reach the victory stand by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 15.26 seconds.
Furthermore, the position holder received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize ceremony of the event.
