Monday, September 3rd, 2012 3:52:27 by Usman KhalidApple has not truly mirrored the San Jose-court performance in other parts of the world. A Japan court ruled that Samsung did not infringe on any of Apple patents and ordered Apple to pay the cost of the lawsuit.
The US-based Apple and South Korea-based Samsung have been nipping at each other’s heels for some time now. However, the California court ruling passed by the nine-member jury made tons of press in the past week. The jury passed the verdict in favour of Apple on August 24 that Samsung infringed on six of Apple’s registered patents.
However, Tokyo District Judge Tamotsu Shoji thinks otherwise. The court ruled that Samsung did not violate any of the filed patents on synchronizing music and video data with servers.
Samsung’s shares in Seoul Stock Exchange rose 1.5 percent after the ruling in Japan. Apple stock did not receive any effect of the news. They were up a fraction in early U.S. trading Friday, at 667.30, near their all-time high of 680.87 touched on Monday, the first trading day after the U.S. verdict was announced late Aug. 24.
Samsung has said, and many legal and technology experts alike second it, that the legal battle is far from over. The San Jose ruling however, was a big blow to Samsung. Its shares fell and the press did not help the cause.
The first sigh of relief to the Korean electronics giants was ruling passed by a Korean court. Though Samsung did not clean swept the game, it partially was pardoned on some counts. Both Apple and Samsung were ruled infringers on their respective filed patents.
The US Judge Lucy Koh is expected to make the final decision on September 20. Apple is pressing on the get a US-based sales ban on eight Samsung devices including Galaxy S II. There are rumours that the fine might be raised as much as three times of 1.05 Billion the jury handed down to Samsung.

Dear Mishra,
The case you are referring to was in Korea. And Apple getting $1.05 Billion and a ban on eight devices, whereas, Samsung getting $0 and no ban on Apple devices in the San Jose case makes it pretty much a clean sweep.
