Sony releases Xperia T, a new version of Android smartphone line by the company – Part 1
Monday, September 3rd, 2012 3:52:19 by Usman KhalidSony announced a new handset, Xperia T, along with a number of other devices including its smartphone siblings at the IFA show, staged in Berlin.
Since the separation from Ericsson earlier this year, Sony has not been quite active in the smartphone market or cellular market for that matter. The release of Xperia V, T and J, all the same event, has rather been reassuring to Sony fans. Xperia T is the most advanced among the threesome, while J is the trim-level Android version in the Xperia line.
Sony has so far announced not many handsets and none of them have had a quad-core processor. Xperia T, though does not have a quad-core brain, is the first handset to incorporate Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, preinstalled. Even ICS is no more Google’s latest version of its mobile operating system; its Jelly Bean, or Android 4.1
The new Xperia T gets some make-over touches from the company and is the first handset to break away from the typical Xperia design features. For starters, the new phone gets rid of the bottom band of illuminated buttons that looked separately attached to the main body.
The new design is basically a uniformly width rectangular bar that has slightly rounded edges, not enough to be sued by Apple, and an untappered depth. More details on dimensions will shore up as soon as the phone hits the market.
The handset has a 4.6-inch HD Reality screen, HD for a 720p resolution. For a 4.6-inch display that is quite sharp display. And it also runs on Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine, which is quite efficient and will produce good results in video and game rendering. Both of the technologies coupled together provide a pretty sharp display.
