Monday, September 3rd, 2012 3:52:16 by Usman KhalidThe rear-end has the most interesting component that will certainly make the handset a good sell. The 13-megapixel camera with 1080p video capturing capabilities will be the most attractive attribute of the phone once it hits the market. There is a 1.3-megapixel camera upfront that can also take HD video but in 720p resolution. This will be helpful in video chatting. The phone is also compatible to dock on Xperia TV Dock for streaming photos and videos to an Xperia television.
Other goodies inside are a reasonable 1.5 GHz dual-core processor that is assisted by 1 GB of RAM. Though the processor leave much to be desired when there are quad-core processors offered by the competition, it is good enough to get things going on Android Ice Cream Sandwich. However, the company also stated that the Jelly Bean update will soon be coming to the handset after its release.
Among other features, the most prominent one was near-field communications chip inside. With NFC , the phone will be able to connect to other NFC-enabled devices to transfer media files instantly and making transactions using Google Wallet or other electronic transaction applications.
Moreover, it will allow the handset to connect to NFC-based speakers, also from Sony. This option kills the compression complaints over Bluetooth connectivity. The audio will be mesmerizing seeing the technology’s capabilities. However, final verdict can only be issued when the phone arrives in the market.
The new smartphone is also a part of the cast of new James Bond franchise as Sony presented the audience with a video clip of the movie. Though the device does not have any dialogues in flick, it will certainly adorn Daniel Craig’s palm as he makes important phone calls or gets warned by ‘M’ over a phone call.
The new Xperia T is not a massive upgrade to Sony’s smartphone line but some of the design quirks have been shaved off and it certainly gives a new look to the Xperia name. The views at the event were mixed but a closer look can only be given when it arrive at store shelves.
