Altaf Hussain urges political parties to get united against innocent killings
Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 4:46:31 by Faisal FarooqCriticizing political parties for being involved in mudslinging while the country is facing serious threats, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday urged all political forces to become united to focus on the crises.
According to a press statement, Altaf Hussain said that the political parties before engaging in politics should first work on safeguarding the country from threats.
“If there is no Pakistan, then there is nothing else, no politics, estates or someone’s kingdom. The country’s prosperity and security should be the top most priority as without it we would be virtually left with nothing”.
Emphasizing the on severity of the internal and external threats, Altaf Hussain was of the opinion that every city in the country has been experiencing extensive target killings at the hands of militants, resulting in the loss of countless innocent lives.
He, however, said that no political has made efforts to protest the rampant loss of lives as they have been busy in mudslinging campaigns against each other.
He stated, “It was up to the citizens to think about whether they wanted to fight amongst themselves or unite in an alliance to protect the country from any further harm from the militants”.
In his view, the people will have to become united and convince the government, the law enforcement agencies and the country’s judiciary to support the victims, identify the culprits and punish them accordingly.
Inviting all victimized people from different schools of thought and religious beliefs to come together in order to support him, he said he alone could not safeguard the country from external and internal threats.
“The MQM would eradicate the present system of injustice and replace it with a new and more transparent system of administering justice”, he added.
He further said, “I and my party would like a justice system which would provide all members of various faiths, sects and schools of thoughts with equal rights and uniform justice. No one would be a victim of injustice”.
The MQM leader was of the view that the atrocities inflicted on women must end and that men and women should be given equal rights in the society.
