Nawaz Sharif says caretaker premier should be from smaller province
Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 11:43:26 by Faisal FarooqIn what appeared to be a sensible suggestion to gain confidence of people from smaller units, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has said the caretaker premier should be chosen from one of the smaller provinces of the country.
While speaking to the media, the PML-N leader was of the opinion that the upcoming general elections would bring major change in the country.
Criticizing the rules, Nawaz Sharif said that the incumbent government has confronted the entire nation with economic erosion and moral degeneracy.
He observed, “In such circumstances, establishment of government truly representative of masses has become dire need of the hour. Only such government can bring the nation out of darkness, poverty and extremism”.
He further said that present government has dipped the nation into darkness, adding that the PML-N was the only political party which will bring country out of crises.
The party has not only a plan but also equipped with a competent team of committed and patriotic members to serve the masses, he added.
When he was asked about a question on formation of new federating units, the PML-N leader was of the opinion that hollow slogans are not enough to bring changes at the ground level.
In order to materialize this dream, he said there should be a comprehensive programme and dedicated team.
He informed that his party is holding consultations with other political parties on the interim setup.
Earlier, the PML-N president chaired a high-level party meeting. Several issues including the country’s political situation, formation of caretaker government and new provinces came under discussion in the meeting.
It was decided during the meeting that the PML-N would not become part of commission on new provinces.
The participants were of the view that the government should form a national commission for carving out new provinces if it was serious in its efforts.
After holding discussion in detail, the meeting also gave approval of the suggestion that the caretaker PM should be taken from a smaller province.
