Rehman Malik hints foreign elements in destabilizing country
Tuesday, September 4th, 2012 12:29:39 by Faisal FarooqFederal Interior Minister Rehman Malik said foreign elements along with traitors are making efforts to destabilize Pakistan.
The minister while speaking to the media said the Punjab government showed responsibility by arresting Malik Ishaq, adding that everyone knows about the headquarter of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ).
Quoting reports from intelligence departments, the minister said that he had warned over the past two weeks about the possible terrorist attacks in major cities of the country.
He noted, “Strict action will be taken against terrorists no matter where they are hiding in the country. Al-Qaida elements had managed to infiltrate into Pakistan, in the same manner as they have in Syria and Yemen”.
Malik said the government had taken all necessary steps to beef up the security to protect life and property of the people, adding that terrorists have been repeatedly threatening the federal government of terror activities through various sources.
Commenting about bilateral ties between Pakistan and India, Rehman Malik said that the relations have been improved in the recent era according to the wishes of people of the two neighboring states.
He stated, “Pakistan would be strongly resisting any movement of terrorists between the two neighbors. Important and practical decisions are expected to be taken to liberalize the issuance of visa at the people’s level on the occasion of Indian Foreign Minister’s visit to Pakistan”.
Malik said that Pakistan would welcome the opening of Indian visa office at its Consulate in Karachi.
He further said that the government fully realized that those intending to visit from Karachi have to face many problems including extra expenses as they get visa from Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
He expressed hope that all the outstanding issues related to visa with India will be resolved soon.
The minister added, “I will soon visit to New Delhi and the shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia. Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had invited me for the visit”.
The saints and scholars have spread the message of love and brotherhood in the region, he added.
