Government committed to protect the life of citizen: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf
Thursday, September 6th, 2012 11:20:30 by Faisal FarooqPrime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that the government was committed to safeguard the life of every citizen, reiterating his pledge to defend independence and integrity of the country.
In his message on Defence Day of Pakistan, the premier said that he would leave no stone unturned to ensure that minorities enjoy the same respect and dignity as other citizens of the country.
In his view, this day remind them of the laudable sacrifices rendered by the armed forces for the protection of the state.
He observed, “The nation rose to the occasion and proved that the aggressive and nefarious designs of a numerically superior and militarily bigger power could be thwarted through unity, faith and courage. A nation that remains steadfast in its determination and is imbued with love for the country is bound to succeed”.
Paying rich tributes to martyrs, he said that this day represents the nation’s unwavering dedication to unify in the face of grave challenges.
The prime minister was of the opinion that they are required same zeal and commitment to defeat the forces of terrorism, extremism and sectarianism as the nation showed back in 1965.
He noted, “I have complete faith in the people of Pakistan and our armed forces. If we maintain unity in our ranks and remain resolute in the face of the odds facing us, there is no reason why we cannot defeat the nefarious designs of our enemies and overcome the challenges that confront us”.
PM Ashraf said that the despite being a nuclear country Pakistan does not entertain any aggressive designs against anyone, expressing desires to have friendly and peaceful relations in accordance with internationally recognized principles of peaceful co-existence.
In another occasion, the premier while holding a meeting with a parliamentary delegation assured it that no one would be allowed to misuse any law against minorities.
He said that the government had constituted a committee under the headship of Federal Minister for Political Affairs Moula Bakhsh Chandio to look into the grievances of minorities
PM Ashraf added that the government had received the recommendations of the committee, which would be given due consideration.
