Positive thinking require to solve bilateral issues: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf
Saturday, September 8th, 2012 10:25:51 by Faisal FarooqExtending an invitation to Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to visit Pakistan, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has said that positive thinking was required to resolve the bilateral problems.
During a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna, the premier was of the opinion that terrorism was a curse not only for both the neighboring countries but also the entire world.
He observed, “The resolution of outstanding issues like, Kashmir, Sir Creek, Siachen and others was imperative. Settlement of all the disputes exacted a sincere will as well a positive outlook.”
He further said that there was political consensus in the country over having good ties with India.
Krishna praised the views of PM Ashraf saying that a ministerial meeting after a hiatus of six years would go a long way in bringing the two countries closer.
He noted, “India wants to see a flourishing as well as peaceful Pakistan and there are no two opinions about it. We must learn from the past. We cannot change neighbors”. In his view, the issues of Kashmir, Siachen, Sir Creek and others needed to be resolved with a positive approach.
The Indian minister said that both the Pakistani and Indian premiers belong to the same region, adding that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would be delighted to pay a visit to his birthplace in an area which in now in Pakistani Punjab.
Declaring the meeting between the foreign secretaries of both the countries as positive, he said that the visa agreement would be signed on Saturday.
Replying to a query about some progress on the issues of Sir Creek and Siachen as was the case with trade, the Indian minister stated that New Delhi wanted to Islamabad to be a stable and prosperous capital.
It is vital to mention here that S. M. Krishna arrived in Islamabad on Friday for a three day visit and will hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Hina Rabbani Khar on Saturday.
