Maxime Michel overpowers Joshua Green in Men’s Singles pre-quarter-final at Polish Open 2012
Sunday, September 9th, 2012 5:55:13 by Muhammad Ahmad NazirFrance’s Maxim Michel continued his winning run and reached into Men’s Singles quarter-final after showing his remarkable skills in pre-quarter-final clash when he overpowered Joshua Green of England at Polish Open 2012 in Poland, on August 31.
The eighth seeded Maxime, who remained in top form throughout the tournament, had to struggle hard to get rid of his un-seeded English rival in the round-of-16 battle as he narrowly got victory after a thrilling contest.
The In-form Maxime employed all of his reserves to win the opening set but lost the following game in a shaky fashion. Nevertheless, he utilised all of his skills in the final set and overpowered his opponent in three games by working hard for 58 minutes.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Joshua gave a wonderful fight to his opponent by playing with precision and impressed the crowd by grabbing the first set.
However, Joshua could not concentrate in the following sets and remained unable to cope up with the precision and speed of his opponent. He went down against Maxime and lost the match in rubber games.
In opening points of first set, both shuttlers played at their best but it was Maxime who geared up his speed and managed a comfortable lead of 11-7 until the break.
Joshua put up staggering show after the mid-game interval and remained successful in making the score levelled by reaching at 12-12.
At this crucial stage, both players became aggressive and remained close until the ending points when Maxime played flawless badminton and took the game with a close score of 21-19.
However, Maxime was shocked with the impressive progress of his rival in the second set as he could not play positive and dominating game and remained struggling behind until the interval.
The higher ranked Maxime tried his best to put up strong resistance after the break but failed to stop the progress of his rival and eventually lost the set with a one sided 11-21 score on the board.
The in-form Maxime showed his brilliance in the deciding set and took a marvellous lead until the end of opening half.
After the break, the impressive Maxime played in the similar fashion and ended the game with a margin of 21-15.
The French shuttler stamped his supremacy in the arena by winning the pre-quarter-final battle in three games with a 21-19, 11-21 and 21-15 margin on the board.
