Google buys Virus Total

Google has purchased Virus Total, a service that provides Internet users a simple and convenient tool to detect viruses in files and web pages that use multiple companies in the world.

"What started as a game, a simple challenge without any claim, eventually and end up resulting in the birth of a computer security company. Today, almost 14 years later, touching goodbye to this newsletter, where it all began.
A small group, the Virus Total team, we will continue our mission in Google.” Quintero published it in a newsletter.

The blog of Virus Total also welcomed the news:

"We are delighted that Google has acquired Virus Total. This is great news for the users and bad news for the generators of malware, as the quality and power of our tools research
will continue to improve the infrastructure of Google and will ensure that our tools are always ready, just when you need them.”

Google, meanwhile, told Tec crunch:

"Security is very important to our customers and we have invested several million dollars to help them stay safe online. Virus Total also has a solid background in web security, and we are delighted to facilitate the infrastructure
they need to ensure that their service continues to improve. "  

The main feature of Total Virus is that it is free to all Internet users who want to analyze a web address or a file. When someone suspected one, sends it to the site via their own web or email. The
service publishes a weekly report on the sources and types of pathogens detected.
