European Film Academy shortlists foreign language films
Tuesday, September 11th, 2012 6:11:43 by Farasat AliThe European Film Academy has announced the list of 47 films shortlisted for the 25th edition of the European Film Awards today, of which three are Spanish films: Group 7, by Alberto Rodriguez, Sleep and Silence by Jaime Rosales
and The Sleeping Voice by Benito Zambrano.
On the same day that the Film Academy of Spain elects three movies to be considered as the best foreign language movie at the Oscars, from Berlin have announced the films that can be nominated for the European Film Awards, whose
nominations come out the November 3 at the Seville Film Festival.
The police Group 7 by Alberto Rodriguez, starring Mario Casas and Antonio de la Torre, the auteur of Jaime Rosales in Sleep and silence , seen in the Cannes Film Festival, and The Sleeping Voice by Benito Zambrano are the Spanish
tapes chosen to opt for one of the 17 categories covering these awards.
Additionally, Spain can also celebrate the screening of Carnage, Roman Polanski, even among opponents of the 20 countries that are members of the European Film Academy; it seems that this year will be among the favourites in France
and the UK.
From the British Isles come two international impact films like The Mole by Thomas Alfred son, and Sham by Steve McQueen. Both the directors have already faced off in Venice previously.
The European Film Academy was founded by Ingmar Bergman and Wim Wenders are celebrating its 25 years of life (in which Spanish names like Carmen Maura, Alejandro Amenábar, Pedro Almodóvar, Fernando Trueba and Sergi López have been
awarded).
