A recently released study by researchers in California proves that employees who stopped checking their e-mail for five days enjoyed less stress and better focus.
"We couldnĀ“t see a discernible trend on days 1 and 2. But at day 5, the pattern started to become clear: People became less stressed after being away from e-mail," says Gloria Mark of the University of California.
Instead of checking their e-mails the study participants were asked to talk on the phone or face-to-face to their colleagues. "People said they felt liberated, and the euphoria lasted for a few days," Mark also said.
