Qauid-e-Azam was murdered; claims Altaf Hussain
Wednesday, September 12th, 2012 10:40:20 by Faisal FarooqIn what appeared to be a blatant statement, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has claimed that he still believes Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was murdered, as the establishment did not like him.
While addressing a ceremony in connection with the Quaid’s 64th death anniversary, Altaf Hussain said that Muhammad Ali Jinnah belonged to Shia thought of school, but he was a liberal and secular person.
Alleging that the founder of the country didn’t die a natural death, the MQM leader reiterated that the establishment did not approve of the honest statements of the Quaid and there were conspiracies to eliminate the father of the nation after the creation of Pakistan.
Jinnah was a liberal and secular leader who believed in religious tolerance and sectarian harmony, he saying adding that some chose to portray the Quaid as a Mullah.
He questioned, “How could the Quaid-e-Azam be a mullah when he had included a Hindu, Jogindar Nath Mandal, and an Ahmadi, Sir Zafrullah, in his cabinet?”
He observed, “Jinnah didn’t believe in sectarianism. I knew facts about the Quaid’s sect but didn’t feel the need to discuss, as he was liberal and secular man”.
The MQM chief was of the opinion that he couldn’t keep silence following the targeted killings of the members of Shia community, adding that those who were beheading others should not forget that the same could be done to them in the next phase.
While commenting on the new local government system, he was of the opinion that the opposition of various political parties on the introduction of the local government system in Sindh showed that these parties were not sincere in allowing the democracy to flourish at the grass-root level.
He stated, “Jinnah wanted equal rights for the followers of all sects and schools of thought. If Pakistan is made the country of the followers of any particular school of thought or sect it would not be the Pakistan of the Quaid-e-Azam”.
Altaf Hussain appealed to the people to free the country from the clutches of extremists and transform it based on the ideals of the Quaid-e-Azam, urging the people to support the truth if they did not want to support him.
