Amy Smith and Jarrod Killey secure gold medals – EnergyAustralia SC Championships

Amy Smith and Jarrod Killey secured gold medal the Women’s 200m butterfly and Men’s 200m freestyle respectively at the 2012 EnergyAustralia Short Course Championships.

With her relentless efforts, Smith stayed considerably ahead of her toughest challenger and made her way to the finishing blockade for first position with a timing of 2 minutes and 07.42 seconds.

Smith was traced by the fastest qualifying swimmer, Brianna Throssell, who was unable to sustain her spot and finished second in the race by touching the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 09.21 seconds.

Throssell was followed by Madeline Groves, who stayed 0.70 seconds apart and touched the wall for bronze medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 09.91 seconds.

Fourth best spot of the race was secured by Jordan White, who stayed 0.62 seconds slower and settled on the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 10.53 seconds.

Afterwards, Killey secured gold medal of the freestyle event. With his gruelling efforts, Killey stayed just a stroke ahead of his closest competitor and tapped the wall for gold medal with a timing of 1 minute and 43.20 seconds.

His title claiming effort remained 0.29 seconds faster from Bobby Hurley, who earned his way to the medal rostrum for silver medal by touching the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 43.49 seconds.

Hurley was followed by Tommaso D’Orsogna, who remained 0.38 seconds behind and secured bronze medal of the race by posting a time of 1 minute and 43.87 seconds.

The bronze medallist was traced by Kyle Richardson, who stayed more than a body length behind and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 44.45 seconds for fourth position.

Fifth finest spot of the race was trailed by Cameron McEvoy, who remained just 0.34 seconds slower from him and transpired on the finishing blockade by submitting a time of 1 minute and 44.79 seconds.

Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at in their respective discipline at the prize ceremony of the event.
