A U.S. agency official said that child deaths have been on a steady decline around the world in the past 20 years.
An estimated 19,000 children still died every day in 2011, whereas thirty years ago it was 46,000 every single day.
"This year, the U.S. co-hosted a ´Child Survival Call to Action´ that challenged the world to reduce child mortality to below 20 child deaths per 1,000 live births in every country by 2035," the U.S. Agency for International Development reports.
