Friday, September 14th, 2012 2:48:03 by Faisal FarooqIn quite a shocking revelation, London Metropolitan police have claimed that Imran Farooq wanted to actively participate in politics by pursing his independent career in politics.
The London Metropolitan police, also known as Scotland Yard, on the occasion of his second death anniversary disclosed further information about the murder. It claimed that a number of people were informed about his political determinations.
Issuing a fresh appeal for information about Dr Imran Farooq, the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command Unit said that they were trying to solve the murder of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader.
Investigators had disclosed that he was murdered with two kitchen knives sold in discount stores and online and a house brick may also have been used in the attack.
CCTV footage of his final hours, released by police, had images of him at an underground train station as he travelled to work on the morning of his death.
Imran Farooq was one of the founders of the MQM and detectives believe he was planning to renew his political career before his murder.
He was killed at his doorstep on 16 September, 2010 after he was returning from work.
According to the detectives, who are investigating the high-profile murder case, Farooq was establishing his independent political profile in the months before his killing.
The added, “Dr Farooq may have been poised to renew his political career and they want to speak to anyone who was in contact with Dr Farooq over his political ambitions”.
The police revealed that the slain leader set up a Facebook profile in July 2010 and amassed a large number of contacts through social networking website.
By offering a reward of up to £20,000 for anyone providing information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of culprits, the Scotland Yard issued fresh appeal.
The statement said, “It would have required careful planning and would have required help from other people, some of whom may have provided assistance or information unwittingly”.
They are asking anyone who was in contact with him about his plans to get in touch with them so they can build up a picture of his political life.
