Brittany Elmslie and Jordan Harrison earned gold medals of the Women’s 50m butterfly and Men’s 400m freestyle at the 2012 EnergyAustralia Short Course Championships.
With her relentless efforts, Elmslie stayed one stroke ahead of her toughest competitor and hit the wall with a fantastic effort of 26.63 seconds for the crown of the event.
The gold medallist was trailed by Lucia Lassman, who remained 0.25 seconds slower from her former finisher and stepped on the victory stand for gold medal by submitting a wonderful time of 26.88 seconds.
Lassman was followed by Chris Licciardi, who remained 0.13 seconds away from her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall for bronze medal with a timing of 27.01 seconds.
Licciardi was chased by Vanes Puhlmann, who suffered a loss of 0.07 seconds and ended her race in fourth best place by submitting a time of 27.08 seconds.
Afterwards, the arena went wild with the gruelling efforts of Harrison, who captured gold medal of the Men’s 400m discipline. With his stupendous efforts, Harrison proved his mettle for gold medal of the event by tapping the wall with a timing of 3 minutes
and 43.69 seconds.
His gruelling form remained 0.16 seconds ahead of Jarrod Killey, who followed him on the medal rostrum for second position by submitting an effort of 3 minutes and 43.85 seconds.
The second position holder was traced by Mack Horton, who suffered a deficit of almost two body lengths from his preceding swimmer and touched the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 45.71 seconds.
Fourth best spot of the race was secured by Matthew Levings, who was one body length away from his former finisher and touched the wall with a timing of 3 minutes and 46.52 seconds.
Levings was followed by Shane Asbury, who stayed two and a half body length slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall with a timing of 3 minutes and 48.98 seconds for fifth position.
In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their gruelling efforts at the medal ceremony of the event.
