Jessica Morrison and Jordan Harrison secure gold medals – EnergyAustralia SC Championships

Jessica Morrison and Jordan Harrison secured gold medals of Women’s 200m freestyle and Men’s 1500m freestyle at the 2012 EnergyAustralia Short Course Championships.

Morrison remained only an inch ahead of her closest competitor and clocked a wonderful time of 1 minute and 57.98 seconds for top qualifying position.

Morrison was followed by Stubbins, who stayed 0.03 seconds apart and finished second in the race by submitting an effort of 1 minute and 58.01 seconds.

The silver medallist was followed by Angie Bainbridge, who stayed 0.44 seconds slower from her former finisher and reported an effort of 1 minute and 58.45 seconds for bronze medal.

Fourth best position of the race was obtained by Amy Levings, who suffered a loss of only 0.09 seconds and settled on the finishing end with a timing of 1 minute and 58.54 seconds.

Similarly, Levings enjoyed an advantage of 0.12 seconds over Blair Evans of Perth City, who proved her eligibility for fifth best qualifying position of the event by touching the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 58.66 seconds.

Afterwards, Harrison dominated the Men’s distant freestyle discipline. Harrison remained considerably ahead of his closest competitor and tapped the wall for gold medal by producing a time of 14 minutes and 43.26 seconds.

The champions was chased by Matthew Levings, who remained nearly four body lengths behind and surfaced on the finishing end as second position holder by reporting a time of 14 minutes and 47.01 seconds.

The second position holder was followed by Mack Horton, who remained only 0.71 seconds away from overpowering his preceding swimmer and touched the wall with a timing of 14 minutes and 47.72 seconds for bronze medal.

Subsequently, fourth finest spot of the event was gained by Ethan Owens, who stayed more than half a minute slower from his foregoing finisher and transpired on the finishing end with an effort of 15 minutes and 33.89 seconds.

In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the medal distribution ceremony after the event.
