Marieke Guehrer and Grant Irvine occupy gold medals – EnergyAustralia SC Championships

Marieke Guehrer and Grant Irvine occupied gold medals of Women’s 50m freestyle and Men’s 200m butterfly respectively at the 2012 EnergyAustralia Short Course Championships.

Her scintillating effort stayed just an inch ahead of her subsequent rival as she tapped the wall for gold medal with a wonderful timing of 24.45 seconds.

The champion was traced by Olivia Halicek, who stayed only 0.12 seconds behind and stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by submitting a time of 24.57 seconds.

Halicek was followed by Alexander Purcell, who stayed 0.04 seconds apart and touched the wall for bronze medal with an effort of 24.61 seconds.

The bronze medallist was chased by Brittany Elmslie, who remained half a body length away from her former finisher and tapped the wall with a timing of 25.12 seconds for fourth place.

Elmslie was trailed by Sally Foster, who remained only 0.02 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall for fifth position with an effort of 25.14 seconds.

Following that, Irvine dominated the playoff of Men’s 200m discipline. Irvine stayed in a lead of two body lengths over his toughest competitor and transpired on the finishing end for the title with a timing of 1 minute and 53.52 seconds.

The gold medallist was followed by Christopher Wright, who stayed nearly two seconds apart and submitted a time of 1 minute and 55.37 seconds for silver medal.

Wright was chased by Andrew Cameron, who was 0.93 seconds away from overpowering his preceding swimmer and secured bronze medal of the race by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 56.30 seconds.

Fourth finest spot of the event was secured by Lachlan Staples, who was 0.17 seconds behind and touched the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 56.47 seconds.

Subsequently, fifth position of the race was gained by Keiran Qaium, who remained 0.53 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 57.00 seconds.

In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts and the prize ceremony of the tournament.
