PPP chooses wisely as Judiciary also realizes sanctity of Presidential Office

There is one thing that no one will be able to deny and that is the ruling Pakistan People’s Party has never gone against the judiciary and not made history by taking things personally against the judiciary, which had at one point seemed to have lost all neutrality.
Prime Minister Raja Prevaiz Ashraf’s decision to continue appearing in court personally like his predecessor, ex-Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani, is certainly something that showed a humble attitude towards the highest court no matter how against it went and never talked against it in any way.
Another welcoming step from the Supreme Court in regards to the NRO implementation case was the fact that the judges have finally come, as so it seems, to have realized the sanctity of the Presidential office and moving against it beyond constitutional measures would be fatal for future governments and democratic setups.
One thing is now very clear and that is disrupting the government setup by trying to get the President involved in cases would certainly not only go beyond any international and domestic law, which gives complete immunity to that office, but would have in turn, degraded the courts image as being neutral and a guardian of the country’s law.
Now in the upcoming days, we will have to see how the letter which the government is set to draft and present in the supreme court will turn out to be and whether or not the court will clear President Asif Ali Zardari’s position as the head of state or create another deadlock between the two.
