Saturday, September 22nd, 2012 6:32:49 by Farasat AliThe search engine giants, Google, are set to close their music service in China on October 19 after competing with the local leaders “Baidu Inc”, for almost three years.
Baidu, a famous musical service in China, has been dominating the Chinese market ever since the U.S. search engine installed their office in Hong Kong to circumvent Chinese censorship in searches.
“We decided to close Google Music in
China to give greater emphasis to our portfolio of products.
The impact of this product is not as great as we expected, so we decided to shift resources to other products," said an announcement on Google’s company blog.
Google started their musical venture back in 2009 by shaking hands with Top100.cn, a musical website owned by local basketball hero, Yao Ming. However, they stopped their service after losing competition against Baidu.
China boasts over half a billion Internet
users, but operates in an ecosystem closed where Chinese companies Internet must
comply with local laws and censor of
the topics deemed sensitive by the government.
To the most surprise of Internet user s all around the world, Facebook,
