Gone are the days when you could only look for a gasoline engine in a vehicle. The gas prices would trip you off but you would have no other choice but to settle for it. However, the new wave of electric and hybrid cars is getting people the much craved choice on fuel economy.
Electric vehicles are the least expensive in terms of fuel consumption or the complete lack of it thereof. But the pun here is the first time cost that drives the users away from dealerships. They are powerful, no doubt, more attractive in some cases.
The other viable option is hybrids. The relatively more economical cars than gas-powered ones in terms of consumption and less expensive than EVs, in terms of overall cost of the vehicles are trending.
Though since its launch Toyota Prius has become the face of this category, there are other vehicles in the market that can be affordable and good looking options as well. Almost every other car maker is manufacturing hybrids, including even the luxury brands as Rolls Royce, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW. However, following is the list of affordable ones in the market.
2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid
The latest hybrid to come to the U.S. market is one of Ford’s European models. The C-Max Hybrid is a tall, fat hatchback. It uses a similar hybrid system to what Ford will be offering in its upcoming Fusion Hybrid. As such, the electric motor can drive the car for short distances, letting the gas engine remain off. This operation is a boon in heavy traffic.
2012 Toyota Prius C
The Prius has been a huge success for Toyota that the company decided to expand the brand, offering new models under the Prius name to accommodate the different needs of buyers. The Prius C is the mini version of this hybrid poster child, a hatchback with diminutive proportions making it sized for the city. It uses a downsized version of the Prius’ hybrid drive system, which loses nothing in capability. Like the Prius, the Prius C can drive for short distances under electric power.

Pakistan consumers need hybrids. I wish Pak Toyota and Honda Pak understand the consumer needs rather than selling sub standard cars. Hybrid cars r available in the market long enough but Pak assembllers r not willing to provide vetter choices to consumers. Over charging prices for sub standard corollas and civic. Compare these models with USA models in price and specs.
