‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ will be the last directorial venture of Yash Chopra: Karan Johar
Tuesday, September 25th, 2012 4:02:35 by Imran Shaukat KhanIndian filmmaker, film director, screenwriter and a highly successful Bollywood producer, Yash Chopra, needs no introduction in the tinsel town. Chopra, who will turn 80 this Thursday, has given many evergreen films like Waqt, Deewar, Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila, Lamhe, Chandni, Darr, Dil To Pagal Hai, and Veer-Zaara to the audiences. However, Karan Johar believes his upcoming film ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ will be his last directorial venture.
‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, which will feature the King of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role opposite to Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, is scheduled to hit the cinema halls on November 13. It is one of the most eagerly awaited films of this season and Karan has added more spice to the enormous hype of the movie.
“Yashji (Yash Chopra) is like my father. His birthday this year is very special because he is probably making his last film. All of our films are releasing this year but that film will be the most special experience of 2012,” the 40-year-old said here in an interview.
“This year is special not just for him but for the whole industry because Yashji’s last film is releasing this year,” he added.
In the meantime, Karan also shared his thoughts with the media about ‘Barfi’, which is all set to make it to the Oscars. Karan is hoping the film gets shortlisted.
“I am thrilled to bits and I think what better film than ‘Barfi!’ to make it. I have gone on record to say how it was truly most spectacular film experience I have had in years. It’s really everyone’s wish come true that ‘Barfi’ makes it and I hope it walks the red carpet next year,” Karan said.
Well, all said and done, Yash Chopra, who has won the Filmfare Award for Best Director and the Filmfare Award for Best Movie four times each, has made a comeback to direction after eight years since his last film was 2004 cross-border romance ‘Veer Zaara’. So let’s wait and watch if ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ really break some records at the box office.
