Urging all political parties to come together to find a solution for the Balochistan crisis, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Friday said that finding the solution was no just only responsibility of the government.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad resumed hearing of the petition filed by Balochistan Bar Association pertaining to law and order situation in the province.

While writing down short order in the case, the chief justice beckoned all political leaders including Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif to work with the government in resolving the Balochistan crisis.

The chief justice was of the opinion that the country’s political parties should come together to resolve the issues plaguing the war-torn province.

“President Asif Ali Zardari, PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan should understand the situation as leaders of major political parties”, he added.

He continued that the government would have to take certain effective steps before a point of no return was reached with regard to the restive province, adding the situation in the province was continually deteriorating.

The bench adjourned the case’s hearing to October 8 which is scheduled to take place in Quetta.

Earlier, Chief Secretary Balochistan submitted a report to the court saying that there were not death squads in the Military Intelligence (MI) or Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

He also claimed that there was no secret operation underway in the province, adding that there were no missing people in the custody of intelligence departments.

However, the apex court rejected the report saying that people had been missing for three years and hearing their accounts brings tears to one’s eyes.

Chief Justice Chaudhry while giving remarks on the report said that no changes had been made to the report, adding that who are picking up people if secret departments are not involved in such incidents.

During the hearing, the court restricted the chief secretary from initiating a political discussion on the Aghaz-e-Huqooq-e-Balochistan, saying that he should answer questions that he had been asked and it was not the court’s business to discuss politics.
