Fazlur Rehman expresses reservations over elections under army’s supervision
Friday, September 28th, 2012 8:58:52 by Faisal FarooqReacting over the statement of Chief Election Commission (CEC), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman ha said on Friday that he has reservations over holding election under army’s supervision.
While speaking to media, he said that the election should be held under the supervision of judiciary.
He berated PML-N’s premature tantrums about consensus over caretaker Prime Minister as useless and untimely endeavor.
Addressing to the media on Friday, he declared the tantrums of PML-N regarding caretaker PM as a mere political lobbying.
He also demanded that UN should legislate and declare any form of blasphemy as a criminal act, carrying stringent possible punishment; while he also stressed on Muslim countries to seek legal recourse in the very country guilty of blasphemy.
Maulana also stressed on further strengthening of OIC (Organization of Islamic Conference), besides restructuring the organization.
He belittled President Zardari’s speech at UN as merely an emotive gesture, against required solid, practical policies.
He also expressed his deep concern over the fact that OIC’s Kashmir coordination group recently met on the UN platform, while Kashmir Coordination Committee also had its representative seat, yet the government had not bothered to debate the issue once in entire four years of its rule.
He also recommended holding the general elections under the aegis of Supreme Court instead of Army, expressing his reservations over chief election commissioner’s recommendation about holding elections under Army.
Replying to a question, he said that MMA had been regenerated without the inclusion of Jamaat -e-Islami, while answering another question, he stressed on heeding to recommendations of Sardar Akhtar Mengal regarding Balochistan issue.
He noted that Akhtar Mengal’s visit to Islamabad should be utilized and Balochistan’s sense of deprivation would have to be addressed.
Commenting over the postponement of Putin’s visit to Pakistan, the JUI-F leader said that the history repeated itself as once Pakistan had established relations with the United States ignoring Russia in the past.
