Indonesia’s Alamsyah Yunus worked really hard to overpower his spirited compatriot Adi Pratama in Men’s Singles second round contest at Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton 2012 on September 26, in Indonesia
The World Number 27 and sixth seeded Yunus, who has been putting up good show at international level for the last few months, employed all of his skills and managed to defeat his un-seeded opponent in a narrow fashion.
Sixth seeded Yunus could not do well in the first game but he found his way back into the match by taking the second set.
Yunus showed good performance in the final set and won the match in hard-fought three games with a reasonable total on score board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Pratama put up strong show playing remarkable badminton and took the first set.
However, Pratama could not stop the aggressive play of his higher ranked compatriot and lost the remaining games and lost the match with a decent margin.
Yunus received a severe treatment in the opening set when his lower ranked rival played flawless badminton and remained slightly ahead until the one-minute break.
In the concluding half, Yunus played to his maximum potential but failed to stop his rival and eventually lost the set with a humiliating margin of 13-21.
Nevertheless, Yunus played better badminton in the following game and remained aggressive on court which assisted him to create pressure on his opponent.
The in-form Yunus played aggressive badminton in the ending points of second set and won it with a reasonable 21-18 score on the board.
In the deciding set, both players remained toe-to-toe until the one-minute break.
Yunus controlled the game after the one-minute interval and managed to remain ahead on score board.
The higher ranked Yunus did not commit unforced mistakes in the ending phase and took the set with a reasonable 21-17 score on the board.
The in-form Yunus managed to win this second round contest in hard-fought rubber games with a close margin of 13-21, 21-18 and 21-17.
