Hua Gao, the most promising back-up shuttler from China, put up spectacular show of top quality badminton and thrashed Korea’s Ji Hoon Hong in Men’s Singles round-of-16 contest at Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold Badminton 2012 on September 27, in Indonesia.
The in-form Huan, who entered into the tournament as an un-seeded player, turned into potential contender as he entered into quarter-final after showing exit to his 12th seeded Korean challenger.
Chinese shuttler played mature badminton on court as he played with precision and managed to end up the contest in straight games with a killing margin by taking just 35 minutes on court.
On the other hand, the higher ranked Ji Hoon failed to lived up to expectations as could not employ his skills and easily bowed down to his passionate Chinese opponent without even getting close on score board.
Huan employed his attacking skills in the opening set and did not spare any chance for his Korean opponent to put up strong show on court.
Chinese shuttler played with precision and took a staggering lead of 11-5 until the end of opening half.
In the concluding phase, Huan again played dominating badminton by maintaining his speed and aggression on court without letting his rival to get close on score board.
The in-form Huan was in complete control of rallies and he managed to win the first set in a killing fashion with a stunning difference of 21-11.
Ji Hoon tried to put up strong resistance in the following set but again he failed to control the pace of rallies and also remained trailing far behind on score board until the end of opening half.
After the one-minute break in the second set, the lofty Huan continued his progress with an incredible speed on court and easily wrapped up the second game with a one-sided margin of 21-12.
The incredible Chinese shuttler made his presence felt by finishing up the pre-quarter-final battle in straight games with a killing 21-11 and 21-12 score on the board.
