Katinka Hosszu and Cameron van der Burgh secure gold medals –
FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup

Katinka Hosszu and Cameron van der Burgh secured gold medals of the Women’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) and Men’s 100m breaststroke at the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup.

Hosszu served notice of her talent and occupied the title with a wonderful timing of 4 minutes and 31.34 seconds.

The gold medallist was followed by Zsuzsanna Jakabos, who remained more than five seconds apart and touched the wall for silver medal by producing a splendid effort of 4 minutes and 36.93 seconds.

Zsuzsanna was chased by Kathryn Meaklim, who stayed 1.99 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 38.92 seconds for bronze medal.

Meaklim was traced by Jordis Steinegger, who remained almost three body lengths behind and touched the wall for fourth position by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 41.95 seconds.

Afterwards, van der Burgh went full rampant in the 100m breaststroke and conquered gold medal. With his impeccable efforts, he stayed just a touch ahead of his strongest contender, Glenn Snyders, and earned his way to the finishing end for gold medal by
clocking a time of 58.33 seconds.

Similarly, Snyders remained stayed 0.09 seconds behind and surfaced on the wall as second position holder by producing a nice time of 58.42 seconds.

Snyders was trailed by Marco Koch, who remained half body length slower from upsetting his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall for bronze medal with an effort of 58.90 seconds.

Koch was traced by Neil Versfeld, who suffered a deficit of just 0.01 seconds from his former finisher and ended his race in fourth place by producing a time of 58.91 seconds.

Fifth spot of the race was obtained by Sergey Geybel, who stayed 0.19 seconds apart and ended his race in a time of 59.10 seconds.
