Former premier Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has claimed that parliament no role in decision-making process, adding that it has failed to exercise its powers in protecting its rights because of opposition.

Speaking to the media at Allam Iqbal International Airport, he further stated that parliament couldn’t take any stand when he was disqualified by the Supreme Court.

There was no use to cry over the disqualification of parliamentarians having dual nationalities, he added.

The former premier, who was chief executive of the country over four years, claimed that an unannounced Bangladeshi model seemed to be working in the country. In his view, the true representative body of people had no say in decision making.

Gilani observed, “The judiciary clipped his powers but I will continue to rely on my own strength and is once again going to the public to take another start. I will extend my services for making Southern Punjab a new province.”

It is vital to mention here that Yousaf Raza Gilani was disqualified by the Supreme Court for defying its orders to write a letter to Swiss authorities against President Asif Ali Zardari.

The former premier continued that he was fighting for the right of deprived people of the southern belt of the Punjab and the dream of Seraiki province would be materialized in the days to come.

He made it clear that he had left the presidency to go to the public to serve democracy and people of his country.

Commenting on the grievances of Baloch, Gilani urged the nationalist parties of Balochistan to become a part of the electoral process and participate in the coming polls.

Replying to a query about calling back the FC from the insurgency-hit province, he was of the opinion that the Baloch leaders should consult Chief Minister Aslam Raisani over this issue.

About enhancing relations with Russia, Gilani said for peace, stability and development of the region it was need of the hour to expand relations with neighbors including China, Russia and India,

Gilani said recently he had returned from Turkey after attending its congress party convocation in which almost 1,200 delegates, including former presidents, prime ministers and leaders of parties from various countries participated.
