Chief Justice urges government to implement proposal of NJC
Saturday, October 6th, 2012 2:18:18 by Faisal FarooqChief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that the Law and Justice Commission did not implement the recommendations of the National Judicial Committee, urging the government to implement the proposals as soon as possible.
While chairing a meeting of the committee in Balochistan High Court building, the chief justice said that benefits of judicial policy have reached the people in a short time but there was need to take some more measures.
He observed, “The recommendations of the policy making committee should be implemented as soon as possible as people consider the judiciary as redeemer and it was its responsibility to ensure dispensation of speedy justice.”
In his view, the rule of law, dispensation of justice and good governance were keys for the stability in a society.
“It is the utmost responsibility of the judiciary among all institutions to assure dispensation of justice. Rule of law, dispensation of justice and good governance lead the society towards stability.”
He was of the opinion that decisions in the country should be made on the basis of merit, adding that, it was everyone’s responsibility to ensure the dispensation of justice.
He added, “The solution to the people’s problems lay in rule of law, adding that, a just society was vital to the development of a strong economy. We are trying to deliver justice to the people at their door steps.”
The chief just continued that the number of pending cases had also declined in the subordinate courts.
Chief justices of the high courts of the four provinces, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and the Federal Shariat Court were also present during the meeting.
