Tommaso D’Orsogna and Jennie Johansson seized gold medals of Men’s 200m freestyle and Women’s 50m breaststroke respectively at the 2012 FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup in Doha.
With his immaculate efforts, D’Orsogna remained slightly ahead of his closest competitor and made his way to the finishing end for the title by touching the wall with a timing of 1 minute and 43.84 seconds.
The champion was traced by Darian Townsend, who suffered a deficit of only 0.11 seconds from his former finisher and tapped the wall for second position with a timing of 1 minute and 43.95 seconds.
Townsend was chased by Robert Hurley, who stayed just 0.10 seconds slower from improving his position and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 44.05 seconds.
Hurley was followed by Kosuke Hagino, who remained just an arm-stroke away from his foregoing finisher and settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by producing a time of 1 minute and 44.36 seconds.
Fifth finest spot of the event was secured by Kyle Richardson, who was 0.36 seconds apart and proved his eligibility for fifth position of the event by clocking a time of 1 minute and 44.72 seconds.
In the meantime, Johansson proved her eligibility for the crown of 50m breaststroke. Johansson’s laudable efforts placed her in a lead of full body length over her toughest challenger as she sprinted her way towards the wall for the title by clocking a time
of 30.69 seconds.
The gold medallist was traced by Fumiko Kawanabe, who stayed 0.86 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end for silver medal by posting a time of 31.55 seconds.
The silver medallist was trailed by Joline Hoestman, who stayed 0.04 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall for bronze medal by producing a time of 31.59 seconds.
Fourth spot of the race was gained by Miku Kanasashi, who stayed 0.19 seconds apart and settled on the wall by submitting a time of 31.78 seconds.
In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize ceremony after the session.
