Blast in Darra Adam Khel kills at least ten people

At least 10 people were reportedly killed and several others sustained serious injuries on Saturday when a bomb blast ripped through the main market of Darra Adam Khel, the adjacent town of Kohat.

Officials from the political administration while speaking to the media said the explosion took place in Darra Adam Khel’s Janan bazaar.

The dead and injured were being taken to hospitals in Peshawar and Kohat. The police said a suicide bomber targeted a base of Aman Lashkar, anti-Taliban militia, located near the Janan Market.

The target of the attack in the town of Darra Adam Khel appeared to be members of a pro-government militia created to fight Taliban militants, the officials said, adding that the death toll may rise because scores of people were wounded.

Police said 10 shops were completely destroyed in the blast. Security forces rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.

Darra Adam Khel is located between Kohat and Peshawar and very close to Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). No one has accepted the responsibility immediately after the incident.
