Fabian Cancellara criticised Lance Armstrong and Johan Bruyneel for doping

Team RadioShack-Nissan General Manager, Johan Bruyneel is in hot water following the Lance Armstrong doping case.

It has been reported that Bruyneel’s future could be decided in a day or two, “it is possible that the former boss of Lance Armstrong will be sacked”, as reported by a renowned Luxembourg news group.

Bruyneel was managing the American’s teams during the peaks of his career and has been included by USADA in the report.

He has been accused of playing an important role in the doping schemes that helped the American winning seven Tour de France titles.

However, Johan’s case is still under investigation by the Belgian Cycling Federation after being forwarded by USADA and the Belgian might also face a lifetime ban.

Fabian Cancellara also chose the moral ground by criticizing Bruyneel and Lance Armstrong for abusing the sport and distant himself from his Team Manager.

The Swiss noted that he has not read the 202 page of the USADA Reasoned Decision but is aware of the contents.

“It reads like a book. I hear that in 200 pages Bruyneel’s name appears 129 times. I want to know what happened,” Cancellara told Het Laatste Neuwse newspaper.

“But I don’t know what the future brings. Neither for Bruyneel or for the team. It’s not in my hands”.

“I do not know how owner Flavio Becca will react. He hasn’t experienced any problems with his team in the last two years”.

“He’s lost money, not won and now has a bad image. Every normal businessman would throw in the towel, but I do not think Becca will”.

The 31-year-old initially decided to end his associations with Team RadioShack-Nissan but decided to stay with the side for one more season.

He rode with Team Mapei-Quick Step through 2001-2002 and also represented Team Fassa Bortolo (2003-05), Team CSC (2006-10) and accepted an offer from Team Leopard Trek in 2011.

Team Leopard Trek announced its merger with Team RadioShack-Nissan for the 2012 season and Cancellara was chosen to ride along the powerful side.

He finished first at the National Time Trial Championships 2012, the Strade Bianche, Prologue of the Tour de France, stage 7 at the Tirreno-Adriatico and finished second at the Milan-San Remo 2012.

Cancellara confirmed that he will be starting his 2013 season early, in order to make up for his injury affected 2012 programme.
