Vietnam’s Nguyen Tien Minh, one of the most spirited shuttlers in the world of badminton, played with impressive fashion and claimed the Men’s Singles crown at the Chinese Taipei Open Grand Prix Gold 2012 in Chinese Taipei, on October 7.
In the final encounter, the in-form Tien Minh showed a staggering performance and overpowered his local opponent Tien Chen Chou in a dictating manner.
The top seeded Tien Minh, who remained in impressive form throughout the championship, showed his remarkable class and defeated his local challenger in a completely one-sided way in 42 minutes.
The in-form Tien Minh employed all of his skills in the final battle and played with an incredible ease on court which helped him to register and spectacular victory over his rival with a huge margin on score board.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked un-seeded Tien Chen failed to show his aggression on court and lost the battle in straight games despite having the support of local fans.
The local shuttler Tien Chou was completely unable to put up strong resistance against the aggressive Tien Minh and easily knelt down without showing his brilliance.
Tien Minh was everywhere on court in the Men’s Singles first round as he played attacking game and set up a wonderful lead at the early stage.
The confused Chen Chou, in the meanwhile, remained unable to place his shots in right areas and stayed far behind on score board until the one-minute break.
In the concluding half of the opening game, the in-form Tien Minh extended the gap on score board by playing positive and aggressive badminton.
The top seeded shuttler did not show any mercy to his local opponent in the whole set and easily took it with a smashing margin of 21-11.
In the second set of this final battle, Chen Chou showed glimpses of his brilliance as he played fast badminton by taking the bird early and did not let his challenger to set up a comfortable lead until the break.
In the ending half of second set, the higher ranked Tien Minh put in extra effort and pushed his rival on back foot by controlling the bird at net.
Tien Minh managed to win the second game after working hard on court with a reasonable margin of 21-17.
The lofty Tien Minh grabbed the Men’s Singles title by ending up the final battle in straight sets with a 21-11 and 21-17 score on the board.
