Australian cyclist David Tanner has decided to end his associations with the Danish side, Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank after the end of 2012 season.
The cyclist has signed a deal with Team Rabobank after serving Bjarne Riis for a period of two years.
Tanner marked his professional debut with Team Rock Racing in 2009 after riding four years as an amateur with several teams.
He penned a deal with Team Fly V Australia in 2010 which has been his best performance so far in terms of victories.
The cyclist bagged a stage each at the Tour de Beauce, the Tour of Utah and the Tour of China 2012 and also secured the second overall position at the Chinese event.
The 27-year-old was approached by several teams after his superb 2010 performances but his terms profound satisfactory with Team Saxo Bank-Sungard for 2011 and 2012 seasons.
He is currently preparing for the UCI Road World Championships which will be his debut appearance at the event with the Australian National Team.
“My most important role will be supporting the sprinters, Theo Bos and Mark Renshaw,” said Tanner.
“At Saxo Bank I filled the lead-out role for Cooke, Haedo, and Cantwell. It’ll be nice to take that up to the next level”.
“Those races suit me, I always feel good there. I can serve the team well there, but the most important thing is the lead-out train”.
“I’ve spoken to Mark and Theo and I’m excited to get going. All in all, Rabobank is a very good team, I am happy to be here and to take things to the next level”.
David is in great shape for the Worlds and his strength was evident at the two Canadian World Tour events, the Grand Prix Cycliste de Quebec and Montreal.
He finished amongst the top 20 cyclists and was also the top finisher from Team Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Bank in Quebec.
Although, Tanner has not secured any victories in the current season but his tremendous sprinting abilities are not hidden from any one and he is pretty much capable of turning the tables around at any stage of the race.
