Similar mindset claimed live of Benazir Bhutto: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari
Thursday, October 18th, 2012 5:19:12 by Faisal FarooqPakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday said that the mindset responsible for the attack on Malala Yousafzai was the same one which took his mother’s life.
He said this while speaking on the fifth anniversary of the Karsaz incident, assassination attempt on Benazir Bhutto which she narrowly escaped.
The chairman of the ruling party said that he was determined to defeat the extremist mindset which was being both his mother’s murder and the attack on Malala Yousafzai. He also offered prayers for those who lost their lives in the Karsaz incident.
On October 18, 2007, Benazir Bhutto had escaped the attempt on her life as she returned home after years of exile but was shot and killed in an attack later on December 27 in the same year.
Earlier, Bilawal Bhutto termed Malala as his sister and prayed for her speedy recovery.
The young peace-activist and first National Peace Award winner was attacked by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) when she was on her way to school.
He noted, “Malala is the sister of every peace-loving Pakistani. She is the daughter of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.”
The chairman also stated that TTP was the enemy of the country, Islam and humanity. He strongly condemned the attack on Malala and called for those entire still living in denial to stand united against the threats Pakistan faced from within.
Commending the young girl for raising voice for the girls’ education, Bilawal said that it was their duty to stand with their brothers and sisters and face the menace of terrorism together.
Malala earned international recognition for raising voice against Taliban. She conveyed the concerns of female students and people of Swat to the outer world.
She contributed dairies to BBC under the pen name of “Gul Makai” for around four months from January 2009. She was awarded ‘National Peace Prize of Pakistan’ by the government and became the first child to be honored with such prestigious award.
