Senior lawyer gunned down in Lahore
Friday, October 19th, 2012 12:45:39 by Faisal FarooqIn what appeared to be another incident of targeted killing, unknown motorcycle riders gunned down a senior lawyer Shakir Ali Rizvi on Friday in Lahore.
Shakir Ali Rizvi advocate accompanied by his associate lawyer came out of his chamber for going to the court in regard to a case and as soon as his car reached near the Jain Mandir some unknown motorcycle riders forced the car to stop and dragging Shakir Ali Rizvi out from the car shot him point blank and fled away.
The injured lawyer was rushed to the Gangaram Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police have registered a case against the unknown persons.
No group claimed responsibility for the incident yet. Moreover, security at the High Court complex was beefed up after the incident.
Police termed the shooting as a targeted attack, saying the deceased had several high-profile cases. Police further claimed that he had been receiving death threats over these cases.
The High Court Bar Association announced it would boycott the courts to protest the killing of the lawyer.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, taking notice of the incident, ordered for immediate arrest of the perpetrators.
