Gautam Gambhir disappointed over KKR’s failure in CL T20

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper Gautam Gambhir is seriously disappointed over his team’s poor performance in the Champions League T20, saying that it is really unsatisfactory not to have qualified for the semi-final stage of the tournament.

"It is very disappointing not to have qualified for the semi-finals but this is not the end of the world. We will definitely come back stronger in the next edition of Indian Premier League," Gambhir said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

The skipper, however, was happy to see KKR finishing off their campaign on a high. In their last game of the championship, the Knight Riders crushed the Nashua Titans quite comprehensively.

"I still feel we are a quality side, we put this performance on the field today. When you get 180 in these conditions, you know you have the bowling to defend. "Credit to Das for the way finished the innings while Bisla batted brilliantly at the top of the
order," he stated.

Bengal boy Debabrata who won the man-of-the-match award said, "I was just told to go out there and play my game. My game is to see the ball and hit it."

On the other hand, Titans skipper Martin van Jaarsveld conceded that it was really hard to chase 188 runs. He uttered after the contest: "The moment they got first four through inside edge, we knew that it wasn’t our day. They were like a runaway train today.
We have a big match against Delhi on Tuesday, and we need to be up for it."

Veteran KKR batsman Jacques Kallis is also quite disappointed over the results, and blamed weather. He opined that had it not been for the washed-out game against Perth Scorchers, Kolkata could have easily reached the semi-finals.

"It’s a pity we didn’t start of the tournament like this. I felt that we started playing some good cricket in Durban (against the Perth Scorchers) but unfortunately the weather stopped us from getting through to the next round. That was disappointing," Kallis
said after the win over Titans.
