Rebekka Findlay demolishes Julie MacPherson to earn glory at Scottish National Junior Championships

Scotland’s in-form shuttler Rebekka Findley defied all odds to earn glory as she claimed Girl’s Singles U19 crown after beating her team-mate Julie Macpherson in the title match at the Scottish National Junior Championships 2012 in Scotland, on October 14.

The impressive Rebekka, who was the top seeded player in the main draw of the tournament, proved her mettle on court and overpowered his rival in a hard-fought three games in a respectable fashion.

It was an uphill task for Rebekka to win the final battle as she had to work really hard in the battle and she managed to end it up in rubber sets with a narrow margin in 43 minutes.

In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Julie played good badminton and also snatched one game from her top-seeded rival before losing the match with a decent margin in three games.

Julie was in incredible form in the opening set of the match as she played with tremendous precision and remained successful in setting up a huge lead until the end of opening half.

In the concluding half, Rebekka tried her best to put up strong show but failed to maintain her speed and eventually lost the set with a one-sided 13-21 score on the board.

Top seeded Rebekka geared up her speed in the second game as she played with wonderful command of rallies and managed to stay ahead until the break.

After the one-minute break, Rebekka controlled her nerves and played positive badminton in the ending points which helped her to claim the set with a 21-19 score on the board.

In the final set, both shuttlers played to the best of their abilities and pushed each other in all corners of the court. They stayed close on score board until the one-minute interval.

However, it was Rebekka who managed to control the pace of rallies in the concluding half and won the set with a reasonable 21-17 score on the board.

The impressive Rebekka emerged as the title winner as she ended up the final battle with an interesting margin of 13-21, 21-19 and 21-17.
