Sean Mahoney and Michael Klueh stunned the aquatic crowd in the preliminary rounds of of Men’s 200m breaststroke and 400m freestyle respectively at the FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup in Beijing.
Mahoney remained nearly a body length faster from his closest swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 09.93 seconds.
Mahoney was followed by Weijia Liu, who stayed 0.82 seconds apart and surfaced on the wall as second best finisher with an effort of 2 minutes and 10.75 seconds.
Liu was traced by Shuai Wang, who remained only a stroke away from overpowering his former finisher and emerged on the finishing end as third best finisher with the timing of 2 minutes and 11.13 seconds.
Fourth best spot of the event was chased by Tomas Klobucnik, who stayed 0.48 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 11.61 seconds.
Klobucnik enjoyed a benefit of half body length over Zhi Xie, who surfaced on the finishing end as fifth fastest swimmer by posting a time of 2 minutes 12.12 seconds.
Afterwards, Klueh dominated the qualifying rounds of 400m event. Klueh enjoyed a prominent lead over his following swimmer and surfaced on the wall as top position holder by submitting a time of 3 minutes and 47.11 seconds.
Klueh was traced by Matthew Stanley, who stayed 1.10 seconds apart and occupied second fastest spot of the event with an effort of 3 minutes and 48.21 seconds.
Stanley was followed by Yunqi Li, who suffered a loss of 0.25 seconds from his former finisher and secured third position of the event by posting a time of 3 minutes and 48.46 seconds.
Li was trailed by Dominik Meichtry, who stayed full body length behind and emerged on the wall as fourth best finisher by producing a time of 3 minutes and 49.43 seconds.
In addition, the position holders received awards and accolades at the victory ceremony of the tournament while the championship will conclude after the completion of all listed events.
