Matthew Stanley and Ye Shiwen earned gold medals of the Men’s 400m freestyle and Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) at the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Beijing.
His scintillating effort stayed a body length ahead of his toughest rival as he snared the title with an effort of 3 minutes and 40.74 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Michael Klueh, who stayed 0.92 seconds slower from him and surfaced on the finishing end as second best finisher by producing a time of 3 minutes and 41.62 seconds.
Klueh was traced by Yunqi Li, who remained only 0.21 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing end as third position holder with an effort of 3 minutes and 41.83 seconds.
The third position holder was followed by Robert Hurley, who stayed 1.01 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and settled on the wall as fourth best finisher by clocking a time of 3 minutes and 42.84 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the event was secured by Dominik Meichtry, who stayed almost two seconds slower from Hurley and tapped the wall with a timing of 3 minutes and 44.66 seconds.
Afterwards, Shiwen proved her mettle for the title of 200m IM. With her continuous efforts, she stayed in a lead of two body lengths over her closest rival and hit the wall with a nice effort of 2 minutes and 06.10 seconds for gold medal.
She was traced by Zsuzsanna Jakabos, who remained 2.12 seconds behind and occupied silver medal of the event by producing a time of 2 minutes and 08.22 seconds.
Jakabos was chased by Katinka Hosszu, who stayed 0.13 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall as third position holder by submitting an effort of 2 minutes and 08.35 seconds.
The bronze medallist was trailed by Min Zhou, who remained 2.18 seconds apart and settled on the finishing end as fourth best finisher by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 10.53 seconds.
In addition, the position holders received awards and accolades for their notable efforts after the session.
