Jessica Hardy and Cameron McEvoy win swimming title – FINA Swimming World Cup
Wednesday, November 14th, 2012 3:23:16 by Mursil Mehmood ButtJessica Hardy and Cameron McEvoy won gold medals of the Women’s 50m breaststroke and Men’s 200m freestyle at the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Singapore.
Hardy enjoyed a full body length lead over his following swimmer and appeared on the finishing wall for the crown by producing a fantastic time of 29.96 seconds.
The champion was chased by Rebecca Ejdervik, who stayed 0.56 seconds slower and reached the victory stand for silver medal by touching the wall with a nice effort of 30.52 seconds.
Ejdervik was followed by Sarah Katsoulis, who was 0.07 seconds away from overpowering her former finisher and clocked a time of 30.59 seconds for third position.
Katsoulis remained only a touch ahead of her closest swimmer and ended her swim in fourth best place by hitting the wall with a timing of 30.62 seconds.
Fifth finest spot of the race was secured by Samantha Marshall, who stayed 0.54 seconds behind and proved her eligibility for fifth position by producing an effort of 31.16 seconds.
Afterwards, McEvoy occupied gold medal of the 200m freestyle. McEvoy was only an inch faster from his toughest competitor and emerged on the finishing end for gold medal with a timing of 1 minute and 43.40 seconds.
The gold medallist was traced by Darian Townsend, who remained 0.10 seconds slower and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 43.50 seconds for silver medal.
Townsend was followed by Tommaso D’Orsogna, who stayed 0.74 seconds behind and stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 44.24 seconds.
D’Orsogna was chased by Jarrod Killey, who concluded his race in fourth place by posting an effort of 1 minute and 44.28 seconds.
Fifth spot of the race was obtained by Robert Hurley, who stayed 0.17 seconds apart and transpired on the finishing wall with a timing of 1 minute and 44.45 seconds.
Furthermore, the audience appreciated exhausting efforts of all participants in their exclusive events while the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts after the session.
