Tien Chen Chou beats Young Woong Ha to earn glory at Iceland International 2012
Monday, November 19th, 2012 5:54:30 by Muhammad Ahmad NazirChinese Taipei’s in-form player Tien Chen Chou showed a wonderful performance and grabbed Men’s Singles title after defeating Korea’s Young Woong Ha in the final encounter at Iceland International 2012 on Sunday, November 11, in Iceland.
The top seeded Tien Chen showed his aggression on court and outplayed his Korean opponent in straight sets by taking 43 minutes on court.
On the other hand, Young Woong fought bravely throughout the final battle but remained unlucky in the ending points and lost the battle with a respectable margin on the score board.
Tien Chen was in tremendous form in the first round as she played with impressive precision and managed to establish his worth by taking a wonderful lead until the end of first half.
Korean shuttler failed to remain consistent in his positive play as Young Woong also showed his brilliance and stayed close on score board until one-minute break.
In the concluding half, the in-form Tien Chen again geared up his speed which helped him to take the bird early from all areas and she wrapped up the first game with a four-point advantage of 21-19.
Young Woong accelerated the pace of rallies in the second game and pushed his rival on back foot by taking the bird early.
The aggressive Korean player did not show any sign of fatigue all the way and also troubled his rival by executing strong smashes on the side lines.
However, Taipei shuttler did lose his focus in the opening half and also did not let his Korean challenger to build a strong lead until mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, Tien Chen played with impressive speed at net and kept his opponent moving around in all corners of the court but failed to take strong position as Young Woong also played well and the score reached at 21-21.
At this crucial stage, the top seeded Taipei shuttler employed his positive skills by gearing up his speed and managed to win the battle with a tight 23-21 score on the board.
Tien Chen emerged victorious against Young Woong by finishing off the final contest in a tight fashion by a 21-19 and 23-21 total on the board.
