A court on Tuesday framed indictment charges against Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s son-in-law Ali Imran, who was implicated in a case regarding the torture of an employee at a bakery in Lahore.

The magistrate, while indicting Ali Imran and others, summoned the witnesses on November 30. The case was heard in Judicial Magistrate Munawwar Hussain’s court.

The prosecution department produced a charge-sheet accusing Imran and six personnel of police of assaulting the bakery employee. The prosecution department said that the charges had been proved according to the CCTV footage obtained and aired by TV channels.

The court summoned Imran and the complainant on November 30, when indictment charges will be read out to the chief minister’s son-in-law and then it will be up to him to defend or accept them.

Defence-B police had registered the case against Ali Imran and his seven security guards after CCTV footage of the incident was aired by some television channels.

On October 7, a woman came to the shop and asked for a cake; however, the shop was closed for cleaning. The employees asked her to come later when the shop would be open. Two men, who appeared to be bodyguards of the woman, misbehaved with an employee named Irfan and left with warnings of dire consequences.

In the footage, Imran’s guards were seen thrashing an employee of a bakery in Defence area. The victim, Irfan, had reportedly refused to deliver a cake to a woman customer, stated to be Imran’s wife.

On the same day, the guards visited the bakery along with another man, identified the worker and escorted him outside the shop. Around six to seven Elite Force officials, who were present outside the bakery, started beating up Irfan and threatened him further.
